I had the honour of painting this bass guitar. The instructions were that it had to be inspired by the cover of Pantera's 1992 album Vulgar Display of Power. The cover shows a black-and-white picture of a man being punched in the face, with some blood-red type.
I decided to approach this typographically and translated the motion of being punched into the movement of the letters. And, of course, what is a good punch without some blood?
