Poster Design for the Brabanter
“In 1891, Gerard Philips founded a lightbulb factory in the heart of Eindhoven. In 1925, designer Louis Kalff joined the company, replacing the more than 25 different typefaces previously used for the word "Philips" with a bold and unified wordmark. He also introduced standardized color usage, focusing on primary colors. This poster is a blend of my love for vintage packaging (the beautiful typography, limited color palettes, printing misalignments, and rich textures) and my fascination with Philips – the company where my grandfather worked for over 40 years. Unfortunately, he passed away before I was born, but seeing the Philips brand name always feels like a small family reminder and makes me wonder about his time there”
